"AITA for cutting both my uncles out of my life?"

Here's some backstory: My grandparents had three sons my two uncles and my dad. My dad passed away when I was young, and not long after, my mom left.
  • 03
That left me and my sister to be raised by our grandparents. The money my dad left when he passed helped pay off my grandparents' house.
  • 04
On my grandpa's deathbed, both he and my grandma told everyone my uncles, my sister, and me that they wanted my sister to have the house.
  • 05
She's the youngest and had nothing. I'm already married and have my own home, and both of my uncles also have their own places.
  • 06
My sister had lived in that house her whole life. Fast forward to when both of my grandparents passed away.
  • 07
My grandma had a will, but it was never finalized. Before we even got a lawyer involved to sort everything out, both of my uncles started giving my sister a hard time about the house.

They threatened to kick her out and throw her belongings out, even though everyone knew what my grandparents wanted.
  • 10
When it came time to divide everything, I told them again that our grandparents wanted my sister to have the house.
  • 11
But my uncles decided that she would have to "buy them out" of their share. Since the property was divided into thirds for the three brothers, and our dad had passed, my sister and I split his 33.3% share.
  • 12
I told the lawyer I wanted to give my entire share to my sister because that's what my grandparents wanted.
  • 13
My uncles then got the house appraised and made my sister pay the full value no discount, no consideration, nothing.
  • 14
They even threatened that if she couldn't afford it, they would just sell it to someone else.
  • 15
After seeing how they treated her and how they completely ignored my grandparents' wishes, I made the choice to cut them out of my life.
  • 16
Don't get me wrong if they had said they really needed some money, they could have easily set a fair amount, like $30,000 total, so they both walked away with $15,000 each.
  • 17
But forcing her to pay full value and treating her the way they did? I don't feel like I need people like that in my life.
  • 18
So what do y'all think? Am I the asshole?
  • 19
lunaliquorice You know you're not the asshole here. Your GPs made their wishes clear to all of you, and that should have been adhered to. I'd never speak to them again, this is awful to read. I'm sorry you're going through this after losing your grandparents, it's completely unfai

Anxious_Queen_9583 Absolutely not, it is fully deserved after treating your sister like shit

Icy_Anything_8874 We had the exact same issue when my sister passed, my brothers (uncles to my nephew) forced him out and sold off everything and have my nephew not one penny. I decided right then to completely cut them out of our lives completely and include my nephew into our will and trust. You're not the AH-they don't deserve you or your sister.
